Scope of Service

Technology Support Services (TSS)

The Technology Support Service (TSS) offers a basic level of support for a district’s use of technology in its buildings or district offices. Subscribing districts are entitled to all of the following benefits at no additional charge:

  • TSS ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETINGS - Members of this group include leaders in educational technology in the Mid-Hudson Valley. Representing the ideas of over 30 school districts and four BOCES, the group meets twice a year. Technology presentations and demonstrations provide members with valuable insight and a support network of colleagues facing similar decisions.
  • DAY AND EVENING CLASSES - Day and evening classes cover a broad range of office-based software packages, as well as other applications of Information Technology. Faculty, staff, or Board of Education member(s) of participating districts may attend these classes at no additional charge. Classes are held in labs located on our New Paltz Campus. Unlimited help desk, phone, and web support is provided to all class participants and school district staff.
  • WEB-BASED “SLICES” OF OUR CLASSES - One-hour web-based classes called “Slices” are now available to member schools. A variety of topics from the MHRIC News listing is provided via the web. Participants will be able to access a web site to view and listen to the various “slice” offerings by MHRIC trainers.
  • OFFICE PROFESSIONAL INSTITUTE (OPI) – 1 full day of various topics of interest to office professionals. Topics include MS Office products, Google, File Management and many others. Sessions are a combination of Demo and Hands on training.
  • WEB DEVELOPER USER GROUP - The purpose of this group is to share relevant information geared toward school-district web developers in the four-county area. It is a forum for the discussion of general web development problems and solutions and meets twice a year. The user group provides a forum to discuss current issues, tips, tricks, and suggestions.
  • WORKSHOPS AND DEMONSTRATIONS - Throughout the year, the MHRIC presents workshops and demonstrations for TSS members covering many areas of interest, including current, developing, and innovative technology.
  • TELEPHONE AND E-MAIL SUPPORT - Personalized help is only a phone call or e-mail away.
  • ELECTRONIC SHARING - Districts may subscribe to the Technology Support Services (TSS) Electronic Mailing List, a means of sharing and communicating tips, techniques, and items of interest to schools in the four-county region. Tips and suggestions are sent via e-mail every two weeks. Participation in the TSS Co-Ser is a requirement for this option.

Services Available To the District At An Additional Cost

  • ADDITIONAL DAYS – Districts can request additional TSS training on a per diem basis. This may be requested by indicating the number of days required on the Services Guide Request Form or by contacting Kathi Goodyear at (845) 255-1450 ext. 1330 any time during the service year.
  • TECHNOLOGY LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE OPTION - Districts in the Mid-Hudson Valley can reserve membership seats in the Technology Leadership Institute (TLI) for School District Administrators at a reduced cost. The Technology Leadership Institute provides school district leaders with unique opportunities to engage with nationally known educational technology experts in local venues. It is a great place to learn, to share best practices, and to communicate the value of technology to improve and, in some cases, transform education. Districts may reserve a specific number of membership seats for the year that can be shared by multiple district administrators, making this a very efficient and economical use of the TLI service. Please indicate the number of seats your district is requesting on your service request form. Participation in the TSS Co-Ser is a requirement for this option.
